The Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) has decided to undertake a significant step to ensure the safety of visitors to Dudhsagar waterfall -- the iconic destination that re-opened for tourism activities on Thursday.
GTDC Chairman Ganesh Gaonkar, who was present at the event for the recommencement of the activities, announced the appointment of an agency tasked with digitisation of Dudhsagar waterfall-related activities.
“This initiative will consist of a bunch of responsibilities with one of its primary goals being to track visitors to the waterfall,” he said.
As the allure of Dudhsagar waterfall continues to attract tourists from far and wide, it has also witnessed some unfortunate incidents. As a part of its annual norm, the authorities restrict visits to the site during the monsoon keeping in mind the visitors’ safety.
Gaonkar called for cooperation from the local panchayat in this endeavour claiming it will take a collective effort to make the digitization process a success.
The digitization, he added, will also oversee all trails and treks across Goa. The Goa Forest Development Corporation (GFDC), under the purview of the Forest Department, has taken up the responsibility of monitoring these activities.
