The Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG), which plans to set up a 200-acre film city, has shown unusual alacrity in pursuing the project moving at lightning speed to initiate the process of choosing a consultant to provide advisory services for it.

The ESG has set in motion the process for it to appoint the consultant for Transaction Advisory Services to develop the infrastructure for the Film City on the 250-acres which the Loliem Comunidade recently agreed to provide.

The tender it has floated requires the consultant it chooses to also assist it to select the private developer who will ultimately develop the 'film city' at the Bhagwati Plateau in Loliem.

The Consultant is also required to complete the transaction advisory services work in two months and the entire task assigned to it in four months.

So, if all goes as per the schedule laid out in the tender, ESG will have an investor-cum-developer of the film city by the end of the current financial year.

The first indication that ESG is seriously contemplating setting up a film city in the State came a couple of months ago when it advertised seeking single or joint land owners having 250 acres to collaborate with it for the project.

Within weeks of this advertisement, the Communidade of Loliem responded and passed a resolution to give 250 acres of land for the film city project, incidentally the same site which was proposed to set up the IIT-Goa campus but shunned following massive opposition from locals back in 2016.
