The Goa Forward Party on Monday took stock of the political situation post-Delhi election results, with senior leaders of the regional outfit calling upon the party leadership to strengthen the party across the State.

The meeting, chaired by party chief and MLA Vijai Sardesai, deliberated and discussed the current political scenario, particularly with three elections scheduled in Goa over the next two years, including the 2025 Zilla Panchayat polls, the municipal elections in 2026, and the Goa Assembly polls in 2027.

Sources said the party leadership discussed how to strengthen the party's base in the State and forge alliances with like-minded anti-BJP parties.

After much deliberation, the Goa Forward Party has decided to start its campaign across the State after the Carnival festivities, where party leaders will hold constituency-level meetings in a bid to spread the party's presence across Goa.

The meeting and the decision to strengthen the party’s base come against the backdrop of recent developments, where the opposition unity was exposed as hollow in the just-concluded Assembly session.

Sources in the know further pointed out that, although a section of the Goa Forward leadership is open to forming a tie-up with the Congress party to consolidate the anti-BJP vote, the ground reality has not improved.
