The State government moved swiftly and cleared the decks for movie theatre and multiplex owners to resume operations but remained undecided on the question of allowing schools hold physical classes.
On Thursday, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said, all movie theatres and multiplexes have been asked to begin working but to strictly follow the SOPs for them in the 'Unlock 5.0' guidelines of the MHA.
"It is now up to the individual managements of the theaters to take the call on their dates for re-starting operations," Sawant said.
For schools, however, which were also permitted to open from October 15 (yesterday), Sawant was not forthright and gave no indication after having been optimistic for weeks on recommencing classes.
"Consultations have started with stakeholders for recommencing physical classes in schools. They will give me reports soon,” is all the Chief Minister proffered.
Apart from allowing opening of cinemas, theatres, multiplexes with upto 50% of their seating capacity, the government issued an order permitting use of swimming pools for training purpose. Social, academic, sports, entertainment, cultural, religious, political functions and other congregations have also been permitted.
Such functions are allowed in closed spaces with maximum 50% hall capacity with a ceiling of 200 persons and in open spaces by following MHA laid down SOPs of hygiene and social distancing.
Orders to this effect have been issued by the North and South Goa collectors yesterday in line with the Unlock 5.0 guidelines issued by the Centre on September 30.
