Govt to open training centres for competitive exams: CM

VASCO
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday evening said the State government would start awareness, coaching and training centres for competitive exams, adding that most government colleges would have such classes by June.

Sawant was speaking to reporters along the sidelines of a “Yuva Sammelan” event at the Vasco Railway Hall in the presence of Panchayats Minister Mauvin Godinho, Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida, BJP organising secretary Satish Dhond, former South Goa MP Narendra Sawaikar, BJP State President Sadanand Tanawade, Vasco BJP President Deepak Naik and other members of the BJP.

The Sammelan organised by the BJP Yuva Morcha was attended by a large number of youth from Mormugao Taluka.

“Usually after graduation, there are many competitive exams for recruitment in railways, post, banks, IAS, IPS and GPS and our youth must participate in these exams.”

“We will offer them training and coaching and get them prepared for the exams. For the first time, with employment of youth in mind, several competitive exam training and coaching centres will be opened in various locations of Goa.”

“We have already floated the tender through the director of higher education and expert agencies will come on board and start the coaching centre in six locations. The centres will be in government colleges at Margao, Pernem, Sanguem, Sankhali, Marcel and other locations in Goa, to start with,” said Sawant.

The chief minister said these courses will begin by June so that maximum youth can join and get awareness and training to answer competitive exams.

“We understand that youth either require employment at government or private levels or have to be self-employed and we have to take necessary steps. It is not possible to give government jobs to all youth and we have to develop our inbuilt skills.”

“While Goa has a large potential of jobs, many Goans don’t take up these jobs and wait for government jobs and hence, many youth from Karwar and Sindhudurg grab the opportunity and take up jobs at industrial estates in the State,” said Sawant.

Youth from Vasco, Mormugao and Dabolim constituencies attended the Sammelan and others who spoke at the event included included State BJP President Sadanand Tanavade and BJYM Goa President Samir Mandrekar.
