Seeks 'clear' vacancies not 'anticipated' ones

The Goa Staff Selection Commission (GSSC) has directed all the departments to submit the details of vacancies, to be filled, over a period of one year, by January 31, 2025.
In an Office Memorandum (OM) issued to all the departments, the GSSC has said that the vacancies to be intimated to the Commission should be “clear” vacancies and “shall not include anticipated vacancies".
“As provided in Clause 4 (1) of the Regulations, every year, by January 31, the appointing authority shall intimate the total number of vacancies of subordinate services/posts to the Commission,” the OM stated.
The Commission has said that the vacancies to be filled under the schemes like Compassionate appointment and Employment to the Children of Freedom Fighters, should be deducted from the total vacancies and remaining vacancies are to be reported.
Last week, the Commission had advertised vacancies to fill up 232 posts of lower division clerk (LDC) and recovery clerk across 34 departments, as well as 53 junior stenographer positions in 20 departments. The deadline for online applications for these posts is December 13, 2024.
Constituted through legislation, the Commission, since December 2023 till date, has selected candidates for 69 vacancies through computer based recruitment test. The concerned departments have already appointed the selected candidates.
As per the information provided by the government, in the year 2023, total 33 vacancies for the post of Network Engineer, Laboratory Technician, Librarian, Assistant Sub-Inspector, Technician etc were advertised, while earlier this year, another 36 vacancies for the post of Trained English Teacher in the Education Department were advertised.
