PANAJI
The MHB Colony police from Mumbai on Saturday took custody of Sunita Rodrigues, ex-wife of Myron Rodrigues, the main accused involved in a high-profile investor cheating case.
Superintendent of Police (Crime Branch) Rahul Gupta informed the media that MHB Colony police took Sunita into custody in a case of cheating and criminal breach of trust registered against her and her ex-husband at their police station.
“She has been named as an accused along with Myron for cheating to the tune of Rs 5.15 crore,” the officer revealed.
With the entire process facilitated by the Crime Branch (CB), she was produced before the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) in Panaji. The Investigation Officer from MHB Colony Police Station obtained a two-day transit warrant, after which she was escorted to Mumbai for further investigation.
Sunita was earlier arrested by the Crime Branch on December 7, 2024 in the multi-crore investment scam that saw hundreds of investors duped. She was later released on conditional bail by the Principal District and Sessions judge, Margao. She has been booked under sections 406 (criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating) read with 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code and sections 3 & 5 of GPID (Protection of Interest of Depositors) Act.
Myron remains absconding as he is allegedly hiding in London with other accused also on the run.
