While the red category industries were asked to exercise the utmost caution and implement stringent safety measures, the 33rd Investment Promotion Board (Goa-IPB) meeting on Wednesday approved 10 projects, amounting to a proposed investment of Rs 347.93 Crores, which together hold the potential to generate employment for 3,495 individuals.

In the meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant approving the 10 projects, four involve expanding the manufacturing capacity of existing units, three are new units proposed by established manufacturing companies in Goa while one is a Goan start-up focused on manufacturing ATVs and UTVs for the defense sector.

Another project is of a senior executive from the pharmaceutical industry venturing into the food testing laboratory business, and the last one is a well-known Goan hospitality brand investing in another eco-tourism project.

The CM said that this diverse range of projects highlights the significant business opportunities available in Goa.

"The fact that all 10 projects are based in Goa is a testament to the Government of Goa's efforts in promoting economic prosperity. The Board has directed the Goa office to ensure the fast-tracking of these projects and to prioritize the creation of employment opportunities for local Goans," he said.

The CM also said that red-category industries will be directed to ensure all precautions to ensure the safety of the employees as well as the people living in the vicinity.
