A 36-year-old line helper from Keri-Pernem was electrocuted at the Colvale Industrial Estate on Wednesday morning.
The incident occurred near Glenmark company where high voltage electricity lines had developed some problem, and the industrial area was experiencing power outage. The Colvale electricity department employees had visited the site for repairs after receiving a complaint.
The line helper Ladu Vishnu Pednekar climbed the pole and was checking the electricity line, when he came in contact with live wires and he fell down from the pole.
He was rushed to Mapusa District Hospital in a critical condition but was declared dead on arrival.
Colvale PSI Sonam Verenkar conducted the panchanama of the incident and sent the body to GMC hospital for an autopsy. The body was later handed over to the family.
Employees of Mapusa Electricity Office visited the District Hospital and mourned the demise of Pednekar. The police are further investigating the case.
