MARGAO
District Police Chief, South, SP Sunita Sawant, on Wednesday assured the media that she would find out from the Margao police why complainants were directed to lodge their complaints at the respective police stations.
Tuesday had seen a group of youngsters approaching the Margao police, claiming they had been deputed by an overseas consulting firm on the pretext of providing jobs in Malta and the USA.
Instead of registering an FIR against the firm, the Margao police did not register any FIR on the grounds of jurisdiction. In fact, the youths were told to go to the police stations where they had transferred the amounts via their banks.
Similarly, two women who had approached the Margao police in the case of jobs were told that the incident had not taken place within the jurisdiction of the Margao police station.
“I will examine this issue with the Margao police station in charge. Accordingly, a decision will be taken on the complaints,” she said.
