Panchayats Minister Mauvin Godinho on Saturday celebrated Raksha Bandhan in a unique manner by distributing government welfare cheques to women beneficiaries.
A total of 25 women received benefits, including 16 under the Laadli Laxmi scheme and nine under the Griha Aadhaar scheme.
Extending his wishes to the people of Goa on the occasion, Godinho said the celebration was an opportunity to directly support women and their families.
“My office is working to create awareness on government schemes available and how people can avail their benefit,” he said.
The minister stressed the importance of ensuring that every eligible citizen, particularly from the lower sections of society, is able to access state welfare schemes.
“We are making sure that every scheme offered by the government reaches the people, including those in the lowest section of society,” Godinho added. The event was attended by officials and local residents.
