Mopa Airport police seized liquor worth Rs 56,400 which was illegally being transported to Maharashtra in the wee hours of Friday.
According to Pernem SDPO Jivba Dalvi, Mopa Airport police intercepted an SUV driven by Rony Fernandes (45) from Kankavli-Sindhudurg, who was travelling from Patradevi to Kankavli via Banda-Maharashtra, at about 4 am.
The police team found various brands of liquor bottles (191 litres) worth Rs 56,400 inside the car. The seized liquor and the vehicle have been handed over to the excise department at Pernem for further legal necessary action.
The Mopa police team was led by PI Narayan Chimulkar under the supervision of SDPO Pernem Jivba Dalvi and SP North Akshat Kaushal IPS.
