The Porvorim Primary Health Centre (PHC) recently sent a notice to the Mandovi Fishermen Marketing Co-op. Society Ltd after noticing a number of lapses at the Malim Jetty.
Speaking to The Goan, PHC Health Officer Dr Shikandar Talwar stated that he had conducted a routine inspection along with the sanitary inspector at the Malim Jetty on September 5 and found a number of lapses.
“Labourers were found without valid health cards, there was no cooperation to PHC staff from boat owners to make health cards of the workers, staff who sell the fish in stalls at the Jetty were found without sanitary cards and the surrounding area was found in unhygienic conditions,” said Dr Talwar, in the notice which was issued on September 11.
Copies of the notice were also sent to the Directorate of Fisheries, the secretary and sarpanch of Penha de Franca panchayat and the North Goa collector
