The All Goa Unaided Schools Parents Association (AGUSPA) has sought an immediate intervention of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and the Director of Education to look into the issues faced by the parents over the payment of fees in times of Covid pandemic.
The parents’ body has pointed out a host of problems being faced by parents of children in unaided schools during this pandemic. They said problems have been witnessed across the board with incomes of parents having drastically reduced or in some cases come to a standstill. Also schools as well as many other institutions are completely shut.
Parents said despite the evident crisis, it is unfortunate to see the private schools adopting a rigid stance with regard to payment of fees and unfair and stubborn methods by the schools have denied relief to thousands of parents in Goa who are affected by the pandemic and whose children are at home but are asked to pay full fees. “We are in communication with Education Minister/Chief Minister and Director of Education seeking urgent appointments, to resolve and discuss several issues. We hope to get an appointment with them at the earliest to help resolve the crisis,” AGUSPA said.
AGUSPA, a registered body also affiliated with All India Parents Association (AIPA), has constituted a new committee to manage the affairs of the association. The committee comprises of Chairperson - Priti Mascarenhas, Secretary - Pio Baretto and Treasurer - Mervyn Menezes. AGUSPA can be reached at Mob/8483045175.
