‘Porgottnnar’, a magnum opus produced by the Committee for the Exposition of the Sacred Relics of St Francis Xavier, will be staged for the last time at the Pilar Seminary grounds in Pilar on December 17.
‘Porgottnnar’ has, so far, been presented at eight different places, attracting thousands of people to the show. There is no entry fee to the show.
The Konkani musical is based on the inspiring life story of St Francis Xavier highlighting his commitment and passion to proclaim and witness to the Gospel of Jesus through a musical journey that includes song, dance, and theatrical performance.
Fr Simon D'Cunha, Chaplain of St Joaquim Chapel, Borda, and the President of the Diocesan Commission for Sacred Music, has been the chief architect of this musical, which includes the concept, music, orchestration and coordination.
The script is written by Dr Fr Luis Gomes, Professor at St Xavier’s College, Mapusa and directed by Agnelo de Borim. The Operetta comprises a total of 180 members: 50 artistes, 30 musicians, 23 vocalists, 50 dancers, and 27 backstage artistes.
This production is also being supported by Joynus Noronha (Music Assistant to Fr Simon D’Cunha), Fr Jovial Fernandes and Fr Dyrel Dias (stage sets and concept), Cecille Rodrigues (dance choreography), Agnes Noronha (practice coordinator), Clynda Dias (costume designer - Lily Garments), Amonkar Decorators (stage and lights), Fr Doel Dias and Jerson Fernandes (light effects), Jerson Fernandes (sound) and Fr Henry Falcão, Convenor of the Exposition (Overall Coordination).
