The Supreme Court of India again did not take up the matter of challenge to the Mahadayi Water Dispute Tribunal award on Thursday as well for paucity of time.

The Apex Court had listed the matter to be taken up on Wednesday-Thursday but it was not to be. It will now be listed for next week.

The matters related to the challenge of the Mahadayi Water Tribunal award were not taken up by the Supreme Court of India as widely expected but may come up on Thursday, sources said, citing time constraints.

Special Leave Petitions challenging the award of August 14, 2018, have been filed by all the three States involved -- Goa, Karnataka and Maharashtra.

The bone of contention is mainly between Goa and Karnataka over the latter being granted a share of the coveted river's waters, including diversion of 3.4 tmc out of the basin by damming it at Kalasa and Bandhura. In the proceedings before the Supreme Court, Goa has also raised objections to the approval granted by the Centre to the Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) of the Karnataka government for constructing dams at Kalasa and Bhandura to carry out the diversion of water outside the basin.
