The State cabinet on Monday decided to grant a one-year extension, till February 28, 2025 to the scheme for providing government jobs to the freedom fighters’ children.

The extension in benefit will be however, applicable to only those 30 applicants, who had applied under the scheme after it was lapsed in February, last year.

The Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that currently there are only 30 eligible beneficiaries who can benefit from the scheme. He said that this would be the last extension granted to the scheme.

Sawant said that applications would be scrutinized by the Home department and accordingly the approvals would be granted.

In 2013 the government had framed the scheme to provide employment within the government to children of freedom fighters as was announced in the Budget speech 2013-14.

In yet another decision, Cabinet approved 10 per cent hike in super speciality allowance of the doctor appointed on regular basis by the Goa Public Service Commission (GPSC) at the super speciality block of GMC.
