The Directorate of Higher Education (DHE) has thrown open from Monday online applications for the 'Manohar Parrikar Goa Scholar Scheme' which entails scholarships for students pursuing post-graduate and doctoral studies in premier institutions in India and abroad.
The link to the application form and other details of the criteria of selection for the scholarship is available on the DHE website www.dhe.goa.gov.in.
Any student with a confirmed admission or already studying for post-graduate or PhD programmes in 2021-22 are eligible to apply.
The online application facility will be available until 5 pm on January 27 next year.
On applying online, the aspirants will be sent an email, a printout of which will have to be submitted to the DHE office at Porvorim physically with a passport size photograph affixed on it by February 15.
From among the pool of applicants, a screening committee will shortlist candidates.
Later, the shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by a selection committee, which will then finalise the list of 30 scholarship winners.
Last year the DHE had selected 30 scholars from among a pool of 109 shortlisted students.
The scholarship entails Rs 8-lakhs for pursuing their goals in any institution in India or US $ 25,000 in institutions abroad.
Selection is based on an objective pre-set criteria of a 100-point scale which counts performance at the SSCE (40 per-cent weightage) and 30 per-cent weightage at the HSSCE and graduate level.
