Six wanted in Punjab arrested in Calangute

Accused of murder bid on 2 students

Calangute police on Sunday evening nabbed six persons who had sought refuge in Calangute after they were accused of attempting to murder two college youth in Punjab. There were handed over to the Punjab police on Monday.

A total of 18 crimes have been registered against the accused in Punjab.

According to sources, the attack took place on September 12 in the premises of a college in Mohali district of Punjab, when two students were attacked by the accused with sharp weapons. Both injured are undergoing treatment at a hospital.

After the attack, the accused had fled to Goa.

On Sunday, the Punjab Police received information that all six accused were staying in Calangute and got in touch with the Calangute Police.

The Calangute police confirmed that the suspected accused were staying in a hotel at Maddowaddo-Calangute.

On Sunday evening, a police team led by Caangute Police Inspector Paresh Naik and PSI Parag Parekh raided the hotel and nabbed the accused, Yashvir Chaudhary (20), of Nohka-Rajasthan), Kapil Khatri (22) of Mohali, Harsh Tawar (19) of Mohali, Saurav Kumar Bainniwal (19) of Haryana, Anuj Kumar Jaipal Chaudhary (19) of Mohali and Rahul Dagar (21) of Faridabad Haryana.

On Monday morning, a Punjab police team arrived in Calangute, took custody of the suspects, and returned to Punjab.
