In last five and half years, one person each has died due to malaria and dengue in the State of Goa, the Central Health Minister Mansukh Mandviya told the Rajya Sabha in a written reply.
The central minister has claimed that due to prompt and efficient medical treatment, the recovery rate of patients of malaria and dengue is good in Goa. He has said that the State was efficient in handling disease that are spreading during the rainy season.
In a reply to a question raised by MP N Redappa there were 2,177 malaria patients reported in Goa during the five and half years period. There were 742 cases in 2016, 653 in 2017, 377 in 2018, 272 in 2019, 102 in 2020 and 31 cases from January 1 to May 31, 2021. One person died due to malaria in 2017.
In this five and half years, there were 2,333 dengue patients reported in the State. There were 150 dengue cases in 2016, 235 cases in 2017, 335 cases in 2018, 992 cases in 2019, 376 cases in 2020 and 245 cases from 1st January to May 31, 2021. One person died with dengue in 2018.
There were 2,250 people affected with Chickungunya in these five years. All this patients were cured with treatment.
There were 337, 509, 455, 867, 64 and 18 patients from January 1 to May 31 of 2021.
It is seen that malaria, dengue and Chickungunya outbreak is seen during June to September every year during monsoon.
With the timely guidelines from central government, the states including Goa have been effective in handling the outbreak of this disease, told the Minister.
