Govt to promote MICE tourism: Ajgaonkar
PANAJI: Goa is a famous destination in India for MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) tourism, as the state hosts a number of such events annually. But now, it seems that the state government is keen on promoting Goa as a destination for international events as well.
Tourism minister Manohar Ajgaonkar laid emphasis on promoting Goa as an international destination for exhibitions and fairs to boost tourism and hospitality.
MICE tourism attracts tourists in large numbers typically as corporate teams. Therefore, such kind of tourism helps in improving occupancy rates of hotels, besides improving Goa’s image as a tourism destination.
Ajgaonkar said, “It will be the endeavour of the state government through the Department of Tourism to provide the right infrastructure and platform for MICE tourism in Goa, where such mega exhibitions and fairs of national and international repute are held for the benefit of Goa’s tourism stakeholders.”
