Goa University’s ranking among varsities across India fell to a poor 64 as per India Rankings 2017, released by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD). Similar is the case with Goa College of Pharmacy, whose ranking fell to 30.

During India Rankings 2016, Goa University (GU) was placed at 20 among the top 100 universities in the Country with a total score of 69.90, while Goa College of Pharmacy had secured 23rd position with total score of 54.46 in the Pharmacy category.
Nonetheless, two other higher education institutes in the State managed to secure positions in India Rankings 2017 – Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Quepem at 53rd position in Colleges category and Goa Institute of Management (GIM) at 37th position in Management category.
Five broad generic parameters were followed for ranking of institutions with 100 marks being allotted for each parameter which broadly covered teaching, learning and resources (TLR); research and professional practices (RPC); graduation outcomes (GO); outreach and inclusivity (OI)
