The All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) will mark International Workers' Day with a major public meeting in Panaji on May 1, presenting its 'Working People’s Charter-2025' to the State government. The charter lists 25 key demands focused on workers' rights across sectors.

Addressing the media, AITUC leaders Christopher Fonseca, Prasanna Utagi, and Raju Mangeshkar said the charter highlights wage hikes for workers in gram panchayats, Goa Dairy, Anganwadis, and other sectors, along with addressing injustices faced by pharmaceutical employees. "Our charter reflects the urgent need to correct injustices suffered by a large section of the workforce," Fonseca stated.

The convention will pass a resolution detailing AITUC’s legacy, ongoing challenges, and plans ahead. It will also mourn victims of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam and pay tribute to leaders Sitaram Yechury and Lavu Mamlatdar.

Fonseca criticised the State government as “anti-labour and pro-management,” urging strong worker turnout for the May Day march from Panaji KTC to Garcia Municipal Garden. He added that the campaign won’t end on May 1 but will continue to push workers' issues into the public spotlight.
