MARGAO
What was all along believed has come true that the land acquired for the burial grounds admeasuring 30,000 square metres at Sonsodo has no other approach road or access other than the approach road used by the Christian cemetery.
What’s further interesting to note is that the survey report has clearly stated that the approach road of the plot in question, which is being used by the Christian cemetery is part of the land acquisition, indicating that no separate plot of land has been acquired by the Margao Municipal Council to gain access to the 30,000 square metres acquired land other than the approach road used by the Christian cemetery.
A glance at the survey report further stated that the portion of the road was inaccessible for inspection and to conduct a proper survey since the premises were locked. The report has therefore stated that it is not ascertained whether there are graves existing on the said road.
The survey report stated that it needs to be ascertained whether there are graves existing on the road.
The report further stated that the issue of land usage by the caretakers of the cemetery is to be investigated and resolved by MMC. “It has to be established if the use of the access road has been granted by MMC for the Christian cemetery,” the report stated, adding that the acquired plot admeasuring 30,010 square metres, has no other approach road or access, other than the 10 metre wide admeasuring 1043 square metres.
