There are some shows that had a cult following in India back in the 80s and 90s, Masters of the Universe was one of them. It’s making a comeback now

If you didn’t grow up in the 80s, look away, you’re not really going to get what’s going on here. What does ‘By the power of Grayskull’ say to you? Does it conjure up scenes from an old television cartoon? Do you see a talking skeleton? By Jove! You do remember that glorious childhood! He Man is back in 2016. He looks like the He Man of yore, or perhaps they just want us to think that he does.
He Man and the Masters of the Universe was a cartoon that captured the imagination of children everywhere in India. Teenagers too. Kids were playing with He Man and Skeletor action figures, some played with Battle Cat. Then there were a few boys who had a crush on Teela and She-Ra. Oh, don’t scoff at that though, you know you did. It’s alright, no one had heard of Lara Croft just yet. Right up to the early 90s, when cable television ruled the roost, He Man and the characters from his universe were fads, just like G. I. Joe. Dolph Lundgren even acted opposite Courtney Cox in a real life He Man feature film.
Now, team Super 7 will be premiering a full length episode of this amazing character at the Comic Con in San Diego on July 20. The trailer is out and you can check the link out below. The graphics look a bit old, but perhaps it’s the Super 7 team either just giving us a little nostalgic snippet and the actual episode will be more modern, or they’re just keeping to the old look. The latter decision would be intriguing though, considering modern cartoons are more slick and classy. Either way, He Man is back and all his ‘lovely’ friends too. That Skeletor still gives us the heebie jeebies though!

The music just gave me goosebumps and a flashback to my childhood days. Those were the good old days of He-Man, Skeletor and the roaring Battle Cat. It is fabulous to see the animation series return. I for one an eagerly waiting for it to be released at Comic Con.

He Man was actually one of the first superheros I knew as a child and used to wait for Sunday to see it on Doordarshan. I would be elated if the series makes a comeback and I hope someone makes a movie about him with scfi effects and all that jazz

Being born in the Gulf back in the late 80s, He Man was one of the few cartoons that was in English and I was a big fan back in the day. But I think I wouldn't want to expose my kids to that kind of violence just yet. I loved the intro and the theme soundtrack.
