In two separate raids conducted by Calangute police station, three girls were rescued by police who arrested six persons for luring the girls into prostitution.
Two of the girls were from Mumbai while one was from Bangladesh.The accused were supplying girls for prostitution in various hotel includingfive stars throughout Goa.
The first raid conducted on June 22, Calangute police arrestedone Russian national. In the further finding and during the course ofinvestigation, police arrested more three accused from Margao, namely RajSharma, Ranjit Borkar and Sangita Sharma. Police then rescued one 20 year old Bangladeshigirl, where she was sold to the Raj Sharma, eight years ago in Mumbai for Rs 10,000 when she was 12 years old.
Calangute police station in charge Nolasco Raposo said thatpolice will find out her native address and she will be sent home soon. Atpresent, she has been sent to a state protective home at Merces. “One of the accusedwas working in one of the hotels in Colva, where he used to supply girls to customerswith his contacts,” Raposo said.
The second raid was conducted in the Calangute byintercepting a car on August 30. Two Mumbai girls namely Shobha and Rooparesidents of Mumbai were rescued - while two pimps - Mr. Sameer Sharma and Mr.Lalit Kumar were arrested. Both were residing in Flat No. 1 in Techno Park inPorvorim.
“The accused were supplying victims for the purpose ofprostitution in different hotels, including five stars throughout Goa,” PICalangute said. He further said that both accused were involved the flesh tradeover the last eight months. He revealed that the accused used to get the girlsfrom Mumbai on a contract of Rs 8,000 per day and were charging Rs 10,000 - 15,000 thousand for one hour and Rs. 20,000 - 30,000 for additional hours.
In both the cases, theoffence has been registered in Calangute police station under sections 4, 5&7 of Immoral Traffic (Prenebtion) Act 1956. The raiding team included PINolasco Raposo, PSI Sherif Jacques, LPSI Devyani Naik, HC Subhash Malvankar, PCVinay Srivastav, Vaman Naik, Vinod Naik and LPC Darshan Sawant and Sudipa Poke.PI Calangute continues to undertake further investigations.
