CANACONA
Claiming that Canacona’s coastal belt has gained infamy due to illegal activities like massage parlours, prostitution and drugs, newly appointed Goa Pradesh Youth Congress Vice President Vaishnav Pednekar has demanded action by authorities to stop such activities.
He was speaking after submitting a memorandum to the Canacona Dy Collector Ramesh Gaonkar.
“Instead of taking action against illegal activities carried out by outsiders, authorities are taking action against locals. We want clean and legal activities of tourism in Canacona, not the illegalities mushrooming here,” Pednekar said.
He said prostitution rackets under the garb of massage parlours continue to flourish in Canacona taluka.
He has also demanded action against illegal construction of resorts, hotels, cottages, restaurants by outsiders in CRZ, NDZ, Eco Sensitive Zone and illegal constructions beyond permissible limits in the coastal belt of Canacona.
“There should be strict implementation of the High Court order against outdoor music shows and parties to avoid noise pollution in the coastal belt of Canacona,” he said.
Pednekar also demanded immediate eviction of all encroachments by Lamanis and Kashmiris on footpaths in coastal belt of Canacona and to ban them from roaming on the seashore and harassing tourists.
He warned that if authorities concerned fail to take action on the illegalities of outsiders, he would lead a drive to expose illegalities of outsiders in the coastal belt of Canacona.
“If any untoward incident takes place during our drive against illegalities of outsiders, the State government will be solely responsible for all the consequences,” he added.
Those accompanying Pednekar to submit a memorandum to the deputy collector included Canacona Youth Congress President Manesh (Golu) N Gaonkar, Cleston Viegas, Sidharth Gayak, Ratnakar Gaonkar, Sahil Pagi and Tulsidas Zore.
