Having recently quit the government and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), former minister and Congress candidate, Michael Lobo dared Chief Minister Pramod Sawant calling him “namesake” CM and revealed the existence of a “Super CM” in the BJP-led government who actually called the shots.
Lobo, on Sunday, also said that Congress leaders were not running on remote control but on the contrary the State BJP-led government was remote controlled by the Centre.
“There is a Super CM in Goa. The CM is just for namesake. The ministers and the MLAs were always having arguments. What we said was not happening but what the Super CM wanted finally happened. This culture has to stop. What the MLAs and the people want has to happen,” Lobo said, without taking names.
The former minister was addressing a gathering at the inauguration of the election office of Carlos Ferreira, the Congress candidate for Aldona. Goa Congress election observer Dinesh Gundu Rao and a host of State Congress leaders were also present at the function.
Taking a dig at Goa BJP election in-charge, Devendra Fadnavis, Lobo said that a former Maharashtra chief minister was in the State making allegations after allegations particularly about him (Lobo).
“People of Goa will not listen to you. We are not remote controls. Congress is not running on remote control. That you are running. You (Centre) said that double tracking has to happen. This is called remote control,” he said.
On Saturday, Fadnavis at a function had said that the remote control of the Congress candidate of Mapusa was in Calangute in an oblique reference to Lobo.
Lobo said no government should push projects against the wishes of the locals and assured to scrap the three linear projects as soon as the Congress government comes to power.
“Don’t give Goans what they don’t want. I had opposed the double tracking as well as the Tanmar project. But they (BJP) want the double tracking project to transport coal to Karnataka. We will not allow this to happen. We will scrap these projects, including the six-lane project. This is our promise when we come to power,” he said.
Taking on the local MLA, the former minister said Aldona MLA Glenn Ticlo has only done self-development and ignored the constituency and its people.
“When Adv Carlos Ferreira gets elected he will order an inquiry in the GSIDC scam involving the Aldona MLA and only then Aldonkars will come to know about the size of the scam and what was the amount they received,” he alleged.
He said the local MLA failed to provide jobs to the youth of Aldona and further alleged the ministers sold jobs apparently for party funds.
Lobo also slammed the local MLA for failing to resolve the Aldona market issue.
Goa Congress election observer Dinesh Gundu Rao, Congress leader Amarnath Panjikar and Congress candidate for Aldona, Carlos Ferreira also spoke.
