Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Friday criticised teachers for not informing students about important entrance exams like JEE and NEET.
Speaking at the Goa Career Navigator 2025 event, Sawant clearly said teachers are responsible if students do not know about these opportunities. “I am not blaming students or parents. It is the duty of teachers to guide students and make them aware of these entrance exams,” he said.
Goa Career Navigator 2025 is an AI-powered career guidance programme by the Goa State Council of Education, Research and Training (SCERT) and UNOCUE. It aims to reach over 18,000 students across the state.
The programme also includes Career UDAAN, the Career Compass Handbook, and Career Ambassador Clubs to increase career awareness and leadership among students.
Sawant also encouraged students to look at careers beyond engineering and medicine. He said the state has set up institutions such as the All India Forensic Sciences, International College of Law, and the National Institute of Water Sports, which offer many options for students.
The Chief Minister said the student awareness programme, which will first cover Grade 12 students, will be held in all 11 talukas over the next few weeks. In its second phase, it will also include Grade 10 students. The aim is to ensure that every student receives proper career guidance, he said.
