Cases continue to rise in Bardez, but Aldona PHC bucks the trend

MAPUSA: Maintaining the ascending trend, Bardez once again reported over 100 positive cases on Friday, but the Aldona Primary Health Centre (PHC) managed to buck the rising trend among the six health centres in the taluka.

Mapusa Urban Health Centre and Candolim PHC made up for the bulk of the positive cases with 37 and 33 persons respectively reporting of the viral infection on Friday.

For the last three days, Aldona PHC has been reporting positive cases in single digits – two cases on Friday, four on Thursday and just one case on Wednesday.

Aldona PHC Health Officer Dr Preetam Naik said she was aware of the dwindling number and was trying to analyse the situation.

“I really don’t know the reason why few positive cases are being reported in the PHC. We have been carrying out 25 tests per day on an average and continue to do so till today,” Dr Naik said.

She, however, cautioned that one needs to observe results for a longer period of time to really come to a certain conclusion.

Of the two positive cases reported in Aldona PHC, one was from Carona and the other from Bastora.

Mapusa UHC Health Officer Dr Cheryl de Souza informed that 37 persons tested positive in Mapusa on Friday. Six persons tested positive in Khorlim, five

in Angod, four in Duler, three each in Ansabhat, Peddem and Dattawadi, two each in Ganeshpuri, Ekta Nagar, Carrasvaddo, Cunchelim, Morod and Xelpem and one in Dangui Colony.
