A few years ago, you would be forgiven for thinking that Deadmau5 was a typo in an article about music. Now, this man has become one of the biggest electronic music producers on the planet. His trademark Mickey Mouse ear helmet, replete with an LED display is famous and fans even wear imitation ears to his gigs. But that’s not why he is famous, he is because he’s responsible for many great hits and mixes over the years and is known to put on a great show.
Now he’s teamed up with masterclass.com, which is famous for getting experts from across the world (mostly America and Europe) to give you a masterclass. In the past, Reba McEntire has done one on country music, Aaron Sorkin did a class on screenwriting, Serena Williams on tennis and Christina Aguilera on singing, among others. Deadmau5 is doing a class on the art of producing electronic dance music. Now, EDM has come a long way since a few people sitting with basic software on their laptops. You can still do it that way, but producers like Deadmau5 have taken it to a different level. Some of them aren’t musicians but the process is quite similar.
