It is the fashion event of the year in Goa, the Gionee India Beach Fashion Week, from October 29-31, will bring the best and brightest of Indian and global fashion to Goan shores

It is Goa’s very own fashion week of sorts. The India Beach Fashion Week (IBFW) was conceptualised on a beach in Goa by UVAR Global and soon found itself a reality. Now in its second edition, the 2015 India Beach Fashion Week is certainly bigger than before, adding more stature to its claim of bridging the gap between the glamour facet of fashion and the business one.
This edition, to be held from October 29-31 at a grand five star property in Canacona, The Lalit Golf and Spa Resort, will showcase designers new and old, from Diksha Khanna, Dionne Claudette Alves, Lalit Dalmia, Mohit Sachdeva, Philu Martins, Shweta Puthran, Shruthi Akara and Riddhi Majithia, Tanveer and Saniya, Zeel Doshi Thakker, and more showcasing their designs for the very first time anywhere. It will also feature fashion stalwarts Manoviraj Khosla, Mayyur Girotra, Urvashi Kaur, James Ferreira, Rocky S and a grand finale put together by Wendell Rodricks.
But there’s more to this fashion week than just showings on the ramp. IBFW has partnered with the Moira based One School, to conduct live photography showcases, where young photographers can experience what it’s like to shoot fashion, as well as give the industry a chance to see what can happen with a lens. There is also Made in Goa, a section that will pay homage of sorts to the state where the fashion show is based, by creating a platform for Goan and Goa based artists and others in the creative space to display their talent and wares. To add to all this, there will be a pop up arena, a fashion café, a social lounge and experience zone and a buyer’s lounge, among others.
At IBFW, participants who don’t make it into the space where the fashion shows ae held can view it live from their devices, via special technology. There will also be a sale of fashion wear across different online platforms. And yes, there will be after-parties. What’s a fashion week without letting your hair down every evening? The India Beach Fashion week does give beach wear and destination wear a special space too. Designers will show their lines in resort, swim, beach and destination bridal-wear at this emerging fashion property in India.

I think the India Beach Fashion Week has tremendous potential. The fashion concept can extend to all things beach oriented from boats to sunglasses, sunscreen to beach bags, if they think on these lines, we have the potential to be the best beach week in Asia... maybe the world
