Organized by Off Trail Adventures in association with Goa Hiking Association and the Indian Mountaineering Foundation, the two names synonymous with outdoor activities and trekking in the wild, the festival to be held at the Maquinez Palace in Panaji will showcase in all 28
short films.
The festival will also showcase 14 films from the ‘IMF Mountain Film Festival - India Tour 2017' which was held in Delhi in February 2017. These will be showcased as a special part of the festival.
Apart from the films, the festival venue will display adventure photographs for which entries have already been accepted and from the 80 photos received, 40 will be shortlisted and displayed for viewing. Out of these 40, three best photographs selected by the jury will get cash awards and gift hampers.
As far as the short films competition is concerned, the festival has received 30 entries. From these 30, 14 will be shortlisted for the competition. The best three films will get cash awards and gift hampers.
Talking about the event at a press conference in Panaji on Saturday, festival director Bianca Dias said, "Apart from being the first adventure film festival, we believe this is even second of its kind to be held in the country. We look forward to a good participation and take this event to greater heights in the coming year."
The basic idea behind organizing this festival, she said, was to show a different side of Goa. "Through this film festival, we want to inspire the younger generation to look at adventure as a career option and gradually build an
outdoor culture."
President of Goa Hiking Association, Pramod Kamat, who also briefed the media, said, "We have been at the forefront in organizing treks in the wild woods of Goa and other outdoor activities since 1974. GHA has also been able to inspire, motivate and trained most of the finest mountaineers in the State."
In the same vein, he said, what we intend to do through this festival is inspire the younger lot to come out and explore their adventurous side and true potential.
