Gift deed fees exemptions widened for more relatives

The State government has modified the table of fees for property gift deeds to family members to include more denominations of relatives who will be exempt from paying the three per cent of the property value as fees while executing gift deeds and instead pay a flat fee of Rs 5,000.  

Gift deeds and partition deeds executed in favour of nephew, niece, son-in-law or daughter-in-law too will now be eligible to pay just Rs 5,000 instead of the three per cent of the value of the property as fees, according to the latest notification modifying the table of fees.  

Earlier, this concession was confined to deeds made in favour of only father, mother, brother, sister, wife, husband, daughter, son, grandson or granddaughter and brother-in-law or sister-in-law.
