PANAJI: Since launching its free in-vitro fertilization (IVF) service in 2023, Goa Medical College (GMC) has handled 64 cases, resulting in 14 conceptions and five successful deliveries.
At the ET Healthworld Fertility Conclave, held in Mumbai, GMC Dean Dr S M Bandekar highlighted the State initiative, a first for any government hospital in India.
Health Minister Vishwajit Rane took on X to inform that the initiative is a major step in making fertility care accessible to all.
Reiterating the government’s commitment to strengthening public healthcare, he added, “We are committed to ensuring that Goa remains at the forefront of medical innovation.”
The conclave, themed "Navigating the HeART of Fertility: Exploring New Frontiers in IVF," brought together medical experts to discuss emerging trends in reproductive healthcare. GMC’s participation underscored its role in expanding specialized medical services and making fertility treatment more accessible.
Bandekar was joined at the conclave by Dr Muriel Cardozo, Head of Obstetrics and Gynecology at GMC, and Dr Kedarnath Padte, Obstetrician and Gynecologist from Dr Kedar’s Hospital & Infertility Clinic. Their discussion focused on advancements and challenges in fertility treatment
