A day after Health Minister Vishwajit Rane conducted a surprise inspection at North Goa District Hospital (Asilo) and suspended three staff members, a major administrative reshuffle has taken place.

Senior pathologist Dr Varsha Munj has been appointed as the new Medical Superintendent of the district hospital, replacing Dr Saleena Naik, who has now been directed to report to the Directorate of Health Services.

During his visit, Rane reprimanded several hospital staff, including doctors, for their lack of commitment to patient care. He emphasised the need for improved efficiency and stricter accountability in hospital operations.

The minister also assured that urgent measures would be taken to address infrastructure gaps, including the procurement of a CT scan machine and the activation of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the facility.

The abrupt administrative changes signal a renewed focus on enhancing healthcare services at the district hospital, with authorities now under pressure to implement the promised improvements.
