India’s first commercial 3D printing facility was inaugurated in Goa, marking a major milestone in high-tech manufacturing. The Advanced Additive Manufacturing Facility by Nirmitsu Design Labs, in partnership with global industry leader 3D Systems, is aimed at serving aerospace, defence, and tooling sectors with cutting-edge production capabilities.
The facility was inaugurated by Goa’s IT Minister Rohan Khaunte, along with Cumbarjua MLA Rajesh Faldessai, Bank of Maharashtra’s Zonal Manager Anand Dingankar, Nirmitsu’s co-founders Rajesh and Iraj Sheth, and Deelip Menezes, Managing Director of 3D Systems India.
Speaking at the launch, Khaunte said the initiative aligns with Goa’s efforts to build a knowledge-based economy under Industry 4.0. “With policies to promote startups and electronics manufacturing, Goa is positioning itself as a key hub for innovation. This facility is a step towards building a future-ready state,” he said.
The lab features two advanced machines—the EXT Titan 1070 Pellet Extrusion System and the Figure 4 Standalone Resin 3D Printer—designed to produce high-performance plastic and composite parts with speed and precision.
Nirmitsu aims to offer sustainable, decentralised, and on-demand manufacturing, reducing reliance on traditional supply chains. Co-founder Iraj Sheth said, “We want to turn ideas into impact and make a global mark in 3D printing.”
3D Systems has signed an MoU to support Nirmitsu’s journey, signalling long-term collaboration. The launch also supports Goa’s Electronics Manufacturing Cluster in Tuem and opens opportunities for startups, MSMEs, and students to access advanced prototyping tools.
