Goa’s wait for its first full-fledged mall will get over on Saturday, February 27th, 2016 when Union Defence Minister, Manohar Parrikar, will inaugurate ‘Mall de Goa’ in Porvorim. Other dignitaries like chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar, tourism minister Dilip Parulekar and forest minister Rajendra Arlekar are also going to be present at the mall’s launch.

Jai Bhuvan Group is the promoter of the upcoming mall. Explaining the scale of the mall, Bhuvanish Shet, director, Jai Bhuvan Group, said, “Mall de Goa will be the destination mall for the all of Goa. The super built up area of the mall is 3.5 lakhs square feet, of which 1.8 lakh square feet is leasable area. We have spent around Rs 100 crores on this project. We are going to spoil customers by giving them a lot of choice as we will have 82 stores”.

Mall de Goa will have leading national and international apparel brands like Marks & Spencer, Tommy Hilfiger, United Colors of Benetton, USPA, Puma among several others. The mall will have Big Bazaar as a hypermarket.

Bhuvanish Shet continued, “We have paid a lot of attention to get the best of brands in our food court as well. We will have Goan as well as pan-Indian brands. Kudos will be there as an Italian restaurant. Ex-chef of Cidade de Goa, Prasad Paul, will open a restaurant offering South-East Asian food called Pan Asian Hut, The Yellow Chilli restaurant by chef Sanjay Kapoor will be offering North-Indian cuisine and Ritz Classic will be serving seafood”.

Jai Bhuvan Group has been planning the mall since 2008. Shet said, “The structure of the mall was ready by 2012-13. But, we had to do lot of convincing to get all the retailers here. I always say that it is not the developers who make a mall, it is the retailers who make a mall”.

Rajesh Shet said, “We are going to have Amoeba, the gaming zone. We will even have an INOX theatre”.

Given the huge scale of the project, the promoters have paid a lot of attention to parking as well. Mall de Goa will have space to park 350 cars and 320 two-wheelers.
