MARGAO
Margao Municipal Council Chief Officer Gaurish Sankhwalkar on Monday offered the sacred coconut at the Lord Damodar Temple at Pimpalkatta ahead of the Shigmotsav Parade scheduled in Margao on Saturday.
Members of the Margao Shigmotsav Samiti including MLA Digambar Kamat and others were also present when the Chief Officer offered the sacred coconut.
The Chief officer later told the media that all arrangements will be made to ensure a grand Shigmotsav Parade in the city on Saturday. He, however, said since the election code of conduct is in force, the Shigmotsav Parade will be wound up as per the time restrictions imposed by the authorities.
“This year, the Chief Officer of the Margao Municipal Council has been appointed the President of the Margao Shigmotsav Samiti in view of the election code of conduct. We are making all preparations for the success of the Shigmo parade,” he added.
