Emphasises commitment to welfare of citizens

The Congress Party's candidate for the North Goa Lok Sabha seat, Ramakant Khalap has pledged to safeguard the rights enshrined in the Constitution and the Preamble, emphasising his commitment to the welfare of Indian citizens.

Speaking after filing his nomination in Panaji, Khalap underscored the importance of upholding constitutional principles in his campaign.

Accompanied by Opposition Leader Yuri Alemao, State Congress President Amit Patkar, and other party members, Khalap expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support received during his campaign across North Goa.

He emphasised the unity of opposition parties in working towards securing victory in both Lok Sabha seats in Goa.

Khalap criticised the incumbent MP, highlighting a lack of representation for North Goa in Parliament over the past 25 years. He pledged to amplify the voices of the state and address pressing issues once elected, aiming to secure a victory margin of 50,000 votes for himself and the Congress-led INDIA Bloc.

Patkar echoed Khalap's sentiments, acknowledging the party's strong support base in both districts and expressing confidence in their candidate's success. He underscored the unity among allies and their determination to counter the ruling BJP government's policies and expose alleged misdeeds.

Alemao condemned the BJP government's governance, citing concerns of corruption, dictatorship, and neglect of critical issues such as unemployment and the Mhadei dispute. He emphasised the opposition's united front in safeguarding Goa's interests.

Aldona MLA Carlos Ferreira, who is coordinator for the North Goa Lok Sabha seat, praised Khalap's campaign efforts, noting the enthusiastic response received from various sections of society. He expressed optimism about the campaign's momentum and predicted victory for Congress candidates with significant margins.

As the election fervour intensifies in Goa, the Congress-led alliance remains determined to challenge the status quo and advocate for the people's interests at the national level.
