Pakistan pleaded for ceasefire during Operation Sindoor: CM

PANAJI: Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has stated that Pakistan had pleaded with India to halt military action during Operation Sindoor, asserting that India showed restraint despite having the capability to “finish” its adversary.

Addressing BJP workers at the BJP Karyakarta Melava in Siolim, Sawant credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for India’s firm and strategic response. He described Operation Sindoor as a decisive strike against terrorism, launched in retaliation to the Pahalgam massacre, in which Hindus were specifically targeted.

“The sindoor was wiped off the foreheads of the wives of those who were killed. India is ready to fight back,” Sawant said.

He stressed that the operation was not aimed at any religion or country but was a targeted action against terrorism. Highlighting the role of women in the mission, Sawant lauded officers like Wing Commander Vyomika Singh and Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, calling them “symbols of India’s Nari Shakti.”

“One of the officers involved was from the Muslim community,” he added. “Operation Sindoor makes it clear that our fight is against terrorism, not against any faith.”

Supporting the Centre’s move to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty, the Chief Minister quoted Prime Minister Modi: “Blood and water cannot flow at the same time. If you want water, stop the bloodshed.”

Sawant also asserted India’s strategic autonomy in carrying out the operation. “India never targeted civilians. We’re a capable nation and need no mediation. The decision to act was our own,” he said.
