The Health Minister on Friday said the government was doing its best to reach out to the people and achieve the vaccination target, but sought the support of the people for the State to come out in flying colours in the Covid vaccination programme.
“The government is doing its best to achieve the vaccination target, but we need the support of the people, the younger generation as our success to fight the Covid pandemic is to achieve 100 per cent vaccination so that we all are safe,” he said.
The health minister was speaking to the journalists at the sidelines of a function to felicitate doctors, para-medical staff and Covid warriors in Candolim. Ports Minister Michael Lobo was also present.
Continuing, the health minister said by the end of this month or beginning of July, there will be sufficient vaccines available to cater to different categories of people and age-group.
“The vaccination programme is being monitored by the Government of India. The point is how we can make it easier to take vaccination. Ultimately, the objective is to make vaccines accessible to the masses,” he said.
He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement to provide free vaccines to all is a blessing in disguise to every State to reach out to its population.
He further said the government will reach out to every NGO and Covid warriors to motivate them with an aim to cover maximum number of people for the vaccination.
The health minister said the government has taken all steps to tackle the third wave and that is why the primary focus was on vaccination.
“If a child gets Covid, then the parents only will have to stay with the child. And if they are not vaccinated then they can be at risk. That is why we are appealing to everyone to get vaccinated,” the health minister said.
