The Cuncolim Police rescued a woman on Sunday morning, preventing her from jumping into a rivulet just meters away from the Cuncolim Police Station, potentially ending her life.

The incident unfolded during Sunday morning patrol duty on NH66 when PSI Kavita and her team spotted a woman riding a bicycle and heard her discussing ending her life over the phone.

PSI Kavita quickly alerted Police Constable Rajesh Velip, her patrol partner, who rushed to Pairyabandh. There, the 24-year-old woman had already jumped into the river.

Constable Velip managed to rescue the woman and immediately administered first aid.

Women’s rights activist Auda Viegas, upon receiving the news, rushed to Cuncolim and praised Constable Velip for his quick action in saving the victim.

The woman is originally from Karwar but resides in Cuncolim. Police are currently investigating the incident.
