So Konkani cinema has got a new local hero, this one who came over from Bollywood. Jackie Shroff’s first appearance as a lead cast member in the Konkani movie Soul Curry was celebrated with elan and pomp at Flying Dolphin in Calangute. There, the entire cast and crew, including Jackie Shroff, director Nieelesh Malkar and others mingled, released the music and just celebrated the completion and release of a new film. In Soul Curry, Jackie plays a down-on-his-luck saxophone player who loses love and family because of his ego and temper. In real life, in fact, he was quite the opposite.
