Shah Commission Report: Seven days later

Report of Justice M B Shah Commission of Inquiry on IllegalMining in Goa tabled in Parliament by Union Minister for Mines Dinsha Patel.

The report puts the Illegal Mining Scam at Rs 34,935 croresbetween the period 2000 to 2011.

Secretary (Mines) R K Verma issues orders suspending allmining operations in the state with effect from September 11.

Order allowed trade and transportation of ore already minedand existing in lease area subject to mine owners submitting all documents forverification 

Mines Department suspends assistant geologists DK Bhave,Shobhana Revankar and Deepak Mayenkar, UDC Baban Gaonkar, draftsman RobertGonsalves and technical assistant Antony Lopes after the Shah Commission reportpointed out that department officials failed to control illegal mining in thestate.
