A display of strength was clearly visible in Panaji as 800-1,000 party workers gathered to support North Goa candidate Shripad Naik as he filed his nomination papers before Returning Officer on Tuesday.

Naik was joined by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Rajya Sabha MP and BJP Goa President Sadanand Shet Tanavade, Ministers Vishwajit Rane, Rohan Khaunte and Govind Gaude, and MLAs Deviya Rane, Delilah Lobo and Jennifer Monserrate, and other BJP leaders, amidst the enthusiastic supporters most of whom carried BJP flags and placards of PM Narendra Modi.

Naik filed his nomination amidst chants of "Bharat Mata Ki Jai" and slogans "Modi tum aage badho, hum tumhare saath hai", "Pramod Sawant tum aage badho , him tumhare saath hai."

The filing of North Goa's nominations followed Pallavi's nomination process in South Goa earlier in the day.

The Goa Police had ensured heavy deployment of its personnel outside the North Collectorate as the party had declared it would file its nominations on Tuesday.

Expressing unwavering confidence in BJP's victory in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and the resurgence of a 'double-engine government', Sawant emphasized that both constituencies will be won by BJP.

"PM Modi has been working towards overall development and people trust his commitment. Today, the people of Goa have pledged their support to PM Modi. They will elect the double-engine government. Nominations for both North and South Goa constituencies have been completed. The people of Goa stand with PM Modi and BJP will thus won both seats in Goa," Sawant said, while speaking to reporters after both the nominations were complete.

The party leaders and workers also walked through the city till the party headquarters in Panaji, where senior leaders addressed the gathering reiterating works carried out by the BJP in last decade years and promises for the coming term.

Tanavade and Naik also expressed their confidence in another victory for the party.

Naik is contesting for the sixth time following his consecutive five victories to date.
