A family in Tivim narrowly escaped a major tragedy when a loaded truck lost control and crashed into their house late Thursday evening, causing extensive damage but leaving the two senior citizens inside unscathed.
The incident occurred opposite St Christopher Church in Tivim.
According to the truck driver, the accident happened due to a steering failure while descending a slope, leading the vehicle to veer off the road and slam into the house at high speed. At the time of the crash, the elderly couple residing in the house were asleep. Fortunately, despite the significant damage to the structure, the couple escaped without injuries.
Residents of the area revealed that this is not the first time such an accident has occurred.
Vehicles have crashed into the house in the past, raising concerns about its precarious location.
Villagers had previously urged the family to relocate to a safer place, citing the danger posed by the house’s position near the slope.
However, the family had declined to move.
The accident has once again highlighted the risks faced by families living in vulnerable locations and the urgent need for preventive measures to avoid further incidents.
