Five more crorepatis -- four from Salcete and one from Panaji -- walked to the office of the Returning Officers on Monday to file their nomination papers for the February 4 Assembly election.

A glance at the affidavits filed by the contesting candidates have shown that they are either lakhpatis or crorepatis, with Goa Forward Party candidate for the Fatorda seat and ex-Independent MLA Vijai Sardesai leading the pack, followed by Cuncolim Congress candidate and PWD contractor Clafacio Dias and Fisheries Minister Avertano Furtado. BJP Margao nominee Sharmad Raiturkar also figured in the crorepati league. Aam Admi Party Benaulim candidate Royla Fernades came in the bracket of close to half a crore.
Panaji MLA Siddharth Kuncolinekar ‘s taxable income has plunged by Rs 8 lakh.
In comparison to the affidavits filed during Panaji by-poll, Kuncolienkar’s total income in income tax return stood at Rs 9,39,090 while that of his wife Sonia Kuncalienker as Rs 11,10,628 for the financial year 2013-2014.
For 2015-2016, however, Kuncalienkar’s total income shoiwed Rs 1,83,369 while his wife’s Rs 11,71,033.
His movable assets totalled Rs 76,54,419 while his wife Rs 74,27,114. In immovable assets, the total self acquired assets totaled Rs 69,25,000 while his wife’s Rs 34,25,00. Inherited assets totaled Rs 38,27,500.
