The Davorlim village Panchayat is in the cynosure of all eyes once again. Even as the panchayat has seen as many as five Sarpanchas presiding over the affairs of the Panchayat during the current five-year term, questions are now doing the rounds whether Davorlim would get the sixth Sarpanch before the current term ends in the next two months.

For, a no-trust motion is being moved against the incumbent Sarpanch Nidhi Raj Malvankar by as many as eight out of the 11 Panchayat members. What’s, however, interesting to note is that even as the BDO has fixed April 7 to discuss the notice of no-confidence motion, another group of six members have now moved a no-trust motion against Deputy Sarpanch Paresh Naik.

As far no-confidence motion against Sarpanch Nidhi Raj Malvankar is concerned, it has been signed by Herculano Sebastiao Niasso, Siya Shripad Varak, Paresh Pandurang Naik, Flancy Socorro Gomes, Cracy Fernandes e Colaco, Francisco Colaco, Fransisco S Dias and Sahar Sarfaraz Shaikh.

In the notice, the signatories have alleged that the Sarpanch is not taking members into confidence for any decision, adding that no developmental work in the village has been taken under her guidance. The members further alleged that the Sarpanch does not attend the Panchayat regularly as she is on leave most of the time.

Incidentally, a couple of days later, members Francisco Colaco, Flancy Socorro Gomes, Cracy Fernandes e Colaco, Bina Mohan Kulkarni, Nidhi Raj Malvankar and Deepak R Mangallam tabled a no-confidence motion against Deputy Sarpanch Paresh Pandurang Naik. They alleged that the deputy sarpanch is not taking members into confidence for any decision and that no developmental work in the village has taken place under his guidance.
