Burglary attempt in Betalbatim

An attempt to burgle a closed bungalow at Betalbatim village by two unknown culprits in broad daylight has sent shockwaves across Salcete as the culprits escaped along the main road.

Armed with house-breaking implements, the duo were seen making an abortive bid to break open the main door. Sources said the bungalow owner could see the culprits breaking open the door on the Closed Circuit TV surveillance cameras and alerted the caretakers in Betalbatim to rush to the bungalow.

The duo, however, escaped after jumping over the compound wall and fled along the road.

Colva police informed that the bungalow is owned by a native of North India, Badiyani, who is presently staying in the UK. As the CCTV footage did rounds on social media, the Goa Police formed a team to nab the culprits involved in the daring attempt to burgle the bungalow.

Sources informed that the police have sent wireless messages to all the police stations in Goa and outside with the photographs of the accused persons captured on the CCTV. The police are investigating.
